Come and see the works of God, Who is awesome in His deeds - Psalm 66v5

Bethany Evangelical Church

"What is a church?" Although we often use ‘church’ to refer to a particular building, a church is not the building but the people who meet there. Bethany Evangelical Church is a group of ordinary folk, of all ages & backgrounds.

Although different from each other in many ways, we share the most important experience in life: knowing God through His Son, Jesus Christ.

We have come to trust Him and have found His Word to be true and His promises sure. He has called us to live for Him, believing that Jesus died for us on the cross to take away our sin and shame, and we have responded to that call.

"What does ‘evangelical’ mean?" These days, there are all sorts of new cults and sects around. Are we one of them? No. At Bethany we hold to the teaching of the Bible, as it has been understood through the centuries, and try to practice what we preach, yet realise that we fail in many ways.

‘Evangelical’ simply means that we believe and teach the good news about Jesus Christ.

What is that good news? If a person sincerely turns from their sin and trusts in Jesus, God will forgive them and welcome them into His family. That’s the start of a whole new life in this world, and the sure hope of life to come, in heaven, with God.

"Why do you invite others along?" Because we want to share with folk what God has done for this world in Jesus Christ. It’s for all people, regardless of race, colour or culture.

Whoever you are, the good news is that you too can come to know God and find peace with Him through Jesus Christ. We think that’s a message well worth sharing

Perhaps you think we’re only interested in getting people to ‘come to church’. We’re not. What we want most of all is to help others see that Jesus Christ can change them and give them a new life. He can do so because, when He died on the cross, He took upon Himself the punishment our rebellion deserves. What amazing love this is! Many are searching for real love today; it’s found in Jesus, the Son of God.

A warm welcome! To help you learn about the Lord Jesus and understand the good news, we warmly invite you to join with us in our regular meetings.
