Ben Tannett was inducted as the pastor of Bethany Evangelical Church in September 2006. He and his wife Julie came to us after a three year “sojourn” from full time pastoral ministry. For two years they were members of the congregation at St Ebbe’s Church in Oxford, whilst Julie worked for IFES (International Fellowship of Evangelical Students) and Ben taught at a college for people with autism. Prior to that they were members of Kensington Baptist Church in Bristol.
During that time Ben completed an MA in Theology with the Evangelical Theological College of Wales. His dissertation was on the significance of the pastoral relationship to expository Bible teaching. Ben is a subscriber to the principles of the Proclamation Trust, and is committed to expository Bible teaching. In 2003 he was part of a Project Timothy team (the “export division” of the Proclamation Trust) to train pastors in South East Asia in expounding the Scriptures.
Ben was the pastor of Cheddar Baptist Church, Somerset, from 1998 - 2003. Prior to that he was the pastor of Bethel Evangelical Church, Havant, from 1995 - 1998.
Ben is a graduate of Oak Hill College, London, where he obtained his BA in Theological and Pastoral Studies. Prior to that he studied for a year at London Bible College.
Julie is a qualified accountant, and works in that field part time, while spending the rest of her time supporting Ben in his ministry.
