Come and see us on Saturdays at our stall at Mexborough Outdoor Market.  We have a selection of Christian books and hand made cards for sale made by Bethany Crafty Ladies.   We also have a wide range of free Christian literature to take away.  We would love to meet you.

During June our 10:30 am service will be tackling some of the “good questions” people often ask.  On Sunday 6th July it will be “Doesn’t religion cause wars?”

Do you want to know about life after death?

We are a local church where the Bible is believed and taught.  If you would like to join us one Sunday you would be most welcome.  For details of our service times click here.

We live in an uncertain age, and we believe that the Bible, the Word of The God Who created and still sustains this world, is the only way to understand our lives or to know how to live them.  God created human beings for fellowship with Him, and Jesus has made the only way for us to have that fellowship with Him, by His death on the cross.  To read a bit more about what Christians believe, click here.

We would love the opportunity to meet you, so please come and see us ...

We warmly welcome you to the website of Bethany Evangelical Church, Swinton, South Yorkshire.  We’re really glad to have this opportunity of sharing about ourselves and perhaps introducing you to the Christian faith.  The good news of the Christian gospel is that it is possible to know God personally through the Lord Jesus Christ.  A good place to start would be by reading the gospel of Mark in the New Testament section of the Bible.  We also offer you the opportunity on this website to read more about what Christians believe.  If you are not interested in what the Bible says because you do not believe it to be true, then please accept the challenge that if the Biblical account of the life, death and bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ is true, then the whole Bible can be trusted.  We have laid out some of the evidence for this in The Case for the Good News about Jesus Christ.

Bethany is a Bible believing and teaching evangelical church.  We have had a strong tradition of expository Bible teaching ministry which continues under our present pastor Ben Tannett who commenced his ministry here in September 2006.  We believe that where the Bible is faithfully taught God’s voice is heard, as the Holy Spirit works in the hearts of the hearers in response to the prayers of God’s people.  For details of what we are currently studying together in our Sunday services click here.

We are a missionary minded church, with both a local and global focus, and long to see the people of this area won for Christ.  We are blessed with a warm family feel to the fellowship, and would like to launch more outreach activities as we grow.  If you would like to contact Ben then please feel free to do so.

If you are not yet a Christian, but are interested in investigating the claims of Christianity, then we would be delighted to welcome you, and to have the opportunity to tell you more.  We believe that the Bible offers the answer to those most fundamental of questions - why we are here, what we are here for, and where we are going.  If you would like to read more then please visit our web page What Christians Believe.  On a radio interview (Radio 4, 5th January 2006) Woody Allen gave a very depressing view of life, that is based on a view of a world with no Creator, as advocated by Richard Dawkins and others like him.  If you would like to read an excerpt from this, and some verses from the Bible that respond to this, please click here.  If you have read The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins and would like to read a comment on this from our pastor Ben then please click here, or alternatively please accept our invitation to read our comments on Science and Creation.  A full response to The God Delusion has been written in a series of open letters by David Robertson, pastor of St Peter’s Free Church of Scotland in Dundee.  These letters are reproduced here by kind permission - to read them please click here.

If you are already a Christian, and you are looking for a Bible believing church in the Swinton area, then we would be delighted to welcome you, and invite you to read our Statement of Faith.  As an independent local church, Bethany is not part of a denomination. We are, however, a member of the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches (FIEC), a significant and growing grouping of over 470 churches in the UK.  We are also part of the Yorkshire Gospel Partnership.

Some of the Resources written for use in the church can be accessed here.

To find us set your SatNav (if you have one) to S64 8AE.  We are directly opposite Perry’s Vauxhall on Rowms Lane.  For a map showing where to find us, click here.
